What Arclune Is
Arclune is an iOS app for airport distance information, great-circle route visualization, local route storage, and informational time estimates based on user-selected assumptions and bundled data.
It is for understanding and comparing route distance and time context, not for deciding whether or how a real flight should be operated. The practical product boundary is: understand routes, not plan flights.
Arclune is not an Electronic Flight Bag, certified aviation database, navigation product, dispatch system, flight planning system, weather briefing product, fuel planning tool, legal/regulatory compliance tool, or emergency service.
Common Questions
Does Arclune work offline?
Airport search, route distance calculation, unit conversion, recents, favorites, preferences, route-shape points, aircraft assumptions, and typical seasonal route-wind context work locally from bundled data. Apple Maps imagery and map snapshots may require Apple network services.
Does Arclune use my location?
Only if you ask to find nearby airports. Location access is optional and is used locally to sort nearby airports by distance. The core app remains usable without location permission.
What are route distance and time estimates?
Distance values are informational great-circle calculations between selected airports, stops, and any local route-shape points. Time estimates are informational estimates based on selected aircraft assumptions, route-distance assumptions, typical seasonal wind context, or manual wind assumptions. They are not operational flight times, flight plans, fuel calculations, dispatch calculations, or official aviation data.
Can I use Arclune for real flight planning?
No. Do not use Arclune for navigation, operational flight planning, dispatch, fuel planning, weather decisions, NOTAM decisions, alternate planning, airport suitability, legal compliance, regulatory decisions, emergency decisions, economic go/no-go decisions, or safety-critical decisions. Always use official and approved aviation sources and qualified professional judgment for aviation operations.
Why can data be wrong or incomplete?
Arclune uses bundled and normalized data sources. Airport status, identifiers, coordinates, names, facilities, aircraft assumptions, map content, and wind context may be incomplete, inaccurate, non-operational, outdated, or unsuitable for a specific real-world use. Report suspected data problems to support, but verify all operational facts with official sources.
How do I remove stored local route data?
Open Recent or Favorites and delete individual routes or use the clear action in that list. iOS app-data controls and uninstalling the app may also remove local app data.
Data Correction Requests
- airport name and code if known;
- what appears wrong;
- the official or authoritative source you are using;
- screenshots only if they do not contain sensitive information.
Arclune may review correction requests for future bundled data updates but does not guarantee immediate correction, operational suitability, or official database status.
